The newly appointed Minister of Defence, Raivis Melnis, stated that Ukraine has every right to strike targets on Russian territory, and Latvia will intercept all Russian drones that violate its airspace.

Latvia’s new head of the Ministry of Defence, Raivis Melnis, publicly endorsed Ukraine’s right to target military installations within the Russian Federation.
He conveyed this to journalists, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to the minister, Ukraine possesses a legitimate entitlement to defend its nation through all available means, including striking targets in Russia.
Furthermore, Melnis emphasized that Latvia will bolster its own air defence system in response to the threat posed by Russia.
“We need to build our own air defence system to intercept all drones flying towards Latvia. It is Russia that sends them towards Latvia. We will intercept all drones and support Ukraine in its struggle,” he declared.
Consequently, Latvia has once again reaffirmed its consistent support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing Russian aggression.
