Andriy Onistrat, an officer of the Central Department of Innovation Activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and founder of the “Shershni Dovbusha” strike drone battalion, stated that the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapati, is inheriting the army in a difficult state.

He announced this on the air of “Vechir.LIVE”.

According to Onistrat, Drapati faces an extremely challenging task, as Ukrainian soldiers are exhausted from prolonged hostilities, and the situation on the front remains tense.

“He is taking over the army in a difficult condition: everyone is tired, there is infiltration in all directions. It is quite difficult,” the officer said.

He also noted that, in his opinion, the opportunities for the active use of long-range strike assets that have recently emerged may be limited in time.

“And physically, the window of opportunity that opened in early May with strikes, middlestrikes, and deep strikes, in my opinion, will soon close. Therefore, he has a difficult path ahead, a very responsible and truly arduous undertaking,” Onistrat stated.

At the same time, the founder of “Shershni Dovbusha” shared that the appointment of Drapati was met with predominantly positive sentiment among young officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the military anticipates changes in the approaches to army management.

“Young officers, those who became officers during the full-scale invasion, naturally support this change. And I would say that many are celebrating. There are congratulations, hopes, and expectations for changes – these are the reactions to the new appointment,” he noted.

Onistrat also confirmed that the appointment of Mykhailo Drapati as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could influence his own decision regarding his further service in the army.

As a reminder, Andriy Onistrat previously reported that he had submitted a resignation request from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He cited his transfer to the 17th Army Corps for a position he described as “chief paper-pusher” as the reason for this decision. Onistrat speculated that such a transfer might have been related to his public support for the former Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov.
