The effectiveness of Ukrainian strikes on the Russian fleet should not be assessed solely by the number of sunk ships, as even damaged vessels cause Russia significant financial losses.

This was stated on Espresso TV by Pavlo Lakyichuk, head of security programs at the Center for Globalistics Strategy XXI.
According to him, only sunk ships can be considered permanently destroyed, whereas damaged vessels may be repaired over time.
“Written off means sunk. The cruiser ‘Moskva’ is permanently written off. A hit vessel can be repaired sooner or later,” Lakyichuk noted.
The expert emphasized that most Ukrainian drone attacks were aimed not at the complete destruction of ships, but at their temporary incapacitation.
“In most cases, these drone strikes were intended not to destroy a Russian vessel, but to disable it, to temporarily take it out of service,” he explained.
Lakyichuk also pointed out that not all damaged Russian vessels remain in the Azov-Black Sea basin.
“For us, the Black Sea is closed off, but for the Russians, those that were not finished off have gone or will go to work in the Gulf of Finland,” said the expert.
At the same time, he stressed that even after repairs, such vessels no longer bring Russia the expected economic benefit.
“Each of those vessels that are damaged by the Russians, instead of bringing profits to the Russian budget and the budgets of companies like ‘Rosneft’ or ‘Gazprom’, is now draining funds from these budgets for its repair,” Lakyichuk concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia is weakening its air defense on the front lines to protect its “shadow fleet” in the Black and Azov Seas.
