At the fair in Kyiv, stalls are stocked with seasonal produce, but some price tags might be surprising.

In mid-August, a wide assortment of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and berries can be found at the capital’s fairs. Prices vary noticeably depending on the product: watermelons are sold for 35 UAH per kilogram, while blackberries are priced at 550 UAH.
The publication Novyny.LIVE reported on the prices at one of Kyiv’s fairs.
Among the berries, blackberries turned out to be the most expensive at 550 UAH per kilogram. Raspberries cost 450 UAH/kg, blueberries – 300 UAH, and cherries – 200 UAH. Large sweet cherries are sold for 350 UAH per kilogram.
At the fair, watermelons can be purchased for 35 UAH/kg, plums – for 45 UAH, and apricots – for 150 UAH. Nectarines cost 250 UAH per kilogram. Strawberries and grapes are also available on the stalls.
There is also a considerable selection of vegetables. Potatoes are sold for 35–75 UAH per kilogram, carrots and onions – for 55 UAH, and radishes – for 85 UAH. Cucumbers cost 95 UAH/kg, zucchini – 55 UAH, and eggplants – from 60 to 130 UAH.
The price of tomatoes ranges from 120–145 UAH per kilogram, depending on the variety, with cocktail tomatoes sold at 130 UAH.
Meanwhile, according to the journalist, there is no shortage of products at the fair – the stalls are full. This contrasts with the situation in some of the capital’s supermarkets, where some shelves have become empty following Russian attacks on logistics facilities.
We remind you that earlier the Center for Countering Disinformation reported that empty shelves in some Ukrainian stores do not mean that the country is facing a food deficit. The department urged Ukrainians not to panic and not to create artificial hype in stores.
