The massive missile attack carried out by Russians on the capital and the Kyiv region on the night of August 20 once again demonstrated that in the near future, shelling will most likely be frequent, and there will be no negotiation process at all for now. Vadym Denysenko, head of the analytical center “Business Capital”, expressed a similar opinion in a comment to TSN.ua.

“The shelling will be intense. Without external pressure on Putin, there will be no negotiation process,” says Vadym Denysenko, answering our question about whether de-escalation is possible in the near future, in his opinion.

He does not rule out that Kyiv and the region, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Odesa, and Dnipro will suffer from the main Russian shelling.

Furthermore, according to the analyst, the war will continue in the fall without changes, unless a new negotiation coalition emerges.

As is known, in the coming days, it is not excluded that the US President’s special representative, Steve Witkoff, may visit Ukraine against the backdrop of American efforts to find ways to end the war.

Vadym Denysenko says that Witkoff’s probable visit is unlikely to be decisive.

“Witkoff will come for a symbolic-psychological visit. But the US does not have the real opportunity to pressure Putin in such a way that he is forced to stop the war,” notes the analyst.

Missile strikes on Ukraine: when the next attack is possible

The trend of intense Russian missile attacks in the near future is also predicted by military-political observer of the “Information Resistance” group, Oleksandr Kovalenko. Additionally, he does not rule out that the next large-scale attack could occur around August 24 – when Ukraine celebrates its 35th Independence Day.

In his opinion, Russia is capable of carrying out large-scale shelling of Ukraine at intervals of approximately one week.

“However, we see that Russia quite actively terrorized southern Ukraine in June and July with very cheap ersatz-missiles ‘Banderol’. The Russian Federation has begun to use them more often in the eastern and northern regions of our country. And directly on Kyiv. And on the eve, there was a concentrated raid on Zhytomyr. Therefore, ‘Banderol’ should be considered an element of influence – either single or concentrated. For example, over three weeks in July, more than 50 ‘Banderols’ were used against Odesa. This cheap ersatz-missile makes adjustments to the strike planning. It can be shot down by all means of air defense of small and medium range. If we are talking about missiles that are difficult to intercept, about ballistic, aeroballistic, hypersonic, supersonic ones – then the concentration of ammunition is possible within a week,” says Kovalenko.

War in Ukraine and the probability of shelling on August 24

“The Russians are guided by various fetish dates. Now we see a strike on Kyiv on the night of August 20, but this does not negate the threat of August 24 at all. Since the Russians have ammunition, there is an opportunity to reload and attempt to strike. If a strike is planned, it could be combined – using ballistic, aeroballistic, and other missiles,” says Kovalenko.

At the same time, he expresses the opinion that in the near future, no de-escalation of combat operations and air strikes should be expected.

“I don’t see a decrease in the intensity of strikes. No prospects in the near future. Unless some very important Russian enterprise that produces missile weapons is destroyed. But as soon as Russia lacks a certain component for production, it immediately tries to solve this issue with the help of China. We are indeed striking all the chains of Russian production now, but as soon as some elements disappear, the Russian Federation finds them in China. We can achieve a slowdown in production, but we cannot completely stop it yet,” concludes Kovalenko.

Recall, it was previously reported that what is happening in Kyiv after the RF attack (photos). According to official data, there are dead and many wounded.
