The United States is in close communication with Polish authorities and NATO allies following the violation of the country’s airspace by an RF missile.
This was stated by the American Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, on X.
The diplomat emphasized that the missile, “launched from Russia,” after breaching Polish airspace, “landed deep within Polish territory.” According to him, the United States treats any instance of violation of an Alliance member state’s territory with “utmost seriousness.”
“We are fortunate that there were no casualties. The United States strongly supports Poland. We are closely coordinating with Polish authorities as the investigation progresses and remain committed to defending the Alliance’s territory and supporting NATO’s collective security,” the diplomat stressed.
Meanwhile, Democratic Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur stated in a comment to RMF24 that the constant US military presence in Poland is a key way to deter Russian aggression.
“This incursion of a Russian missile into Poland is unacceptable. The United States must take all necessary measures to support our NATO allies,” she emphasized.
According to her, the best way to protect US allies and safeguard civilian populations is “to help Ukraine stop these attacks at their source.”
RF Missile in Poland
We remind you that during an attack on Ukraine last night, an RF missile entered Poland. Two NATO fighter jets were scrambled in the country’s airspace. The Alliance states that they are in contact with Warsaw regarding the airspace violation.
Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski stated that the missile’s fall could have been either a malfunction or a deliberate provocation by the Kremlin. The investigation is ongoing, so allies must consider all possible scenarios.
