Another falsehood about the alleged capture of a village in the Kharkiv region is being widely disseminated in Russia.
This was reported and refuted by the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
Russian propagandists are spreading a statement from their Ministry of Defense claiming they have captured the village of Shcherbakivka in the Kharkiv region. The Center for Counteracting Disinformation emphasizes that this is another fake, with which Russians are trying to create an illusion of their constant successes at the front.
“In reality, the village of Shcherbakivka in question was abolished back in 1997, as at that time there were no residents left. As of 2026, no such settlement exists in Ukraine,” the CCD noted.
The CCD recalled that the Russian General Staff and the Ministry of Defense have lied before about capturing Ukrainian villages and cities. In particular, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, repeatedly claimed the complete capture of Kupyansk and Kupyansk-Vuzlovy, even though Russians do not control them.

We remind you that despite the attempts of the Russian Federation to intensify assaults in the east, Ukrainian fighters carried out successful counterattacks: they drove a Russian reconnaissance group out of Kostiantynivka and liberated almost 27 square kilometers of land in the Oleksandrivske direction.
Earlier, we wrote that more than 2.5 thousand Russian soldiers are stranded on the Kinburn Spit – they are hiding in forests and dugouts. Ukrainian defenders strike enemy positions daily, despite the fact that Russians are trying to transfer new reinforcements there.
