Sources in the Office of the President of Ukraine have responded regarding the potential return of Fedorov to lead the Ministry of Defense.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy currently has no plans to reinstate Mykhailo Fedorov as head of the Ministry of Defense. However, this matter remains open for the former minister’s team.
This information was shared by a LIGA.net interlocutor in the Office of the President and a source within Fedorov’s team.

According to a representative of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Fedorov’s return to the post of Minister of Defense is ruled out because the current acting minister, “Khmara, has settled in well [to the job].”
When asked if a final decision has been made on this matter, the source indicated that Zelenskyy is in no hurry to initiate a new meeting with the former minister.
“The President says Mykhailo has his phone number,” he explained.
An interlocutor in the Office of the President added that Volodymyr Zelenskyy “initiated a host of meetings and has never spoken with anyone for so long about how a person will continue to work as he has with Mykhailo.”
“Currently, the situation is such that it’s unclear how it might actually conclude,” the source stated.
What Fedorov’s team responded
At the same time, a source for LIGA.net within Mykhailo Fedorov’s team stated that the former minister himself “has not been told that a final decision has been made and the door is closed.”
They note that the politician and his associates are currently unable to fully transition to other tasks.
“He and the team cannot fully move on to other matters now, so as not to betray the people who have been peacefully protesting for over 20 days, demanding the continuation of projects and anti-corruption reforms initiated by the team at the Ministry of Defense,” the interlocutor emphasized.
Additionally, the team of the former head of the Ministry of Defense added that they have “various options for how to proceed to continue the implementation of the war plan.”
