Все складніше: чому Україна насправді приховує кількість російських ракет, що атакують міста — пояснює експерт

The expert explained this as a tactical necessity, but emphasized the importance of honesty with society.

Ukraine has stopped publishing the exact number of missiles launched by Russia to deprive the enemy of valuable data for planning new attacks. However, experts warn that complete withholding of information from society is a wrong step.

This was stated by Pavlo Lakiichuk, head of military security programs at the Center for Globalistics “Strategy XXI”, on the air of the “Kyiv24” TV channel.

The expert explained that the decision of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine not to publish certain data about the results of enemy attacks is justified.

“The step is correctly explained by the Air Force. After all, when the enemy launches a strike, the first stage of their reconnaissance is the number of their launched targets that hit the objects they were aiming at; how many of them were lost, i.e., shot down or suppressed by radar, in which places, on which flight segments, in order to take into account the parameters for a more accurate strike when planning the next one,” Lakiichuk said.

At the same time, he recalled that previously the Air Force regularly reported on the number of downed missiles and “Shaheds.” According to the expert, such data not only informed the public but also demonstrated the results of the Ukrainian air defense’s work and, to some extent, reassured people.

“Unfortunately, the current situation is such that at least regarding ballistics, we have nothing to boast about. When the enemy achieves 100% of its targets, it means a failure of our air defense. It does not depend on the air defense. Of course, it is a significantly different problem,” Lakiichuk emphasized.

In his opinion, the command’s decision may be related to the desire “not to irritate Ukrainians” against the backdrop of a difficult situation.

“This is the wrong step. I think we should be honest with ourselves,” the expert noted.

Recall that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped indicating the number of missiles launched by Russia in daily reports for security reasons. The publication Bloomberg writes that against the backdrop of resource shortages and reduced supplies from partners, Kyiv is persistently asking allies for new air defense systems, particularly Patriot.
