President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held meetings with a number of experienced military commanders to discuss the current situation at the front and the further strategy of waging war.
The head of state announced this in his official address.
Zelenskyy intrigued with decisions on the army and war strategy
According to the president, reports on the current situation in specific areas and the overall progress of hostilities were presented by commanders well-known in military circles — Mykhailo Drapatyi, Volodymyr Horbatiuk, and Oleh Apostol.
The main goal of these consultations is to form an effective action plan that will force the aggressor country to accept peaceful terms that satisfy Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of seeing the situation directly from those who command troops on the ground:
“It is important to assess our further strategy, our Ukrainian active actions, how to force Russia to end this war with a peace worthy of Ukraine and guaranteed security. This has various components, and I want to hear how the commanders and commanding officers in our Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine see it.”
The head of state also announced that “key conversations” would take place tomorrow and assured that Ukraine would definitely achieve its goals.
Why Zelenskyy is gathering combat commanders
We remind you that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held closed online meetings with commanders of combat brigades and corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine defending the hottest areas of the front.
The publication Financial Times suggested that the head of state is holding a “casting” of potential candidates for the position of Commander-in-Chief with the aim of potentially dismissing Oleksandr Syrskyi. In parallel, a group of people’s deputies in the Verkhovna Rada initiated an appeal to the president regarding the resignation of the current Commander-in-Chief.
At the same time, sources of “Ukrainska Pravda” in the Defense Forces deny information about political discussions or changes in leadership during these meetings. According to them, the conversations concerned exclusively military issues: tactical situation, logistics, staffing, and drones. Journalists note that this new format of meetings was most likely aimed at “reducing tension” in society, rather than finding a replacement for Syrskyi.
