Дві функції Android непомітно виснажують акумулятор смартфона вночі: як їх виявити та деактивувати

Two hidden background scanning processes operate within the Android system. Disabling them can significantly reduce battery drain during smartphone standby mode overnight.

Many smartphone owners encounter the issue of their device constantly draining overnight. The primary reason for this has been identified as hidden system geolocation settings.

This is reported by MakeUseOf.

How Hidden Scanners Work and Where to Find Them

The Android operating system utilizes two separate scanning services to determine the device’s location. These operate for Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices. These services do not cease operation even when the user manually disables the main toggles in the settings.

The Wi-Fi module actively collects the unique hardware addresses of all routers within range. It then sends these to Google’s databases for rapid geolocation without relying on GPS satellites. Consequently, in densely populated areas, the smartphone continuously activates in the background, rapidly consuming battery power.

To halt these processes, you need to navigate to your smartphone’s settings and locate the “Location Services” section. There, developers have placed two separate scanning toggles, which are always enabled by default on most devices. After deactivating them, standby battery drain can be reduced by half.

What You Lose After Disabling the Scanners

These system tools perform an important role, so changing their parameters will undoubtedly affect some smartphone functions. The accuracy of location determination indoors with a weak GPS signal will be most impacted. Outdoors, taxi-hailing apps will take a few extra seconds to establish the precise pick-up location.

Another significant consideration relates to the proper functioning of Bluetooth beacons and trackers within the Find My Device system. Therefore, experts recommend finding a compromise and disabling only the Wi-Fi network search. This specific function creates the largest portion of background activity and drains the battery while idle.
