Commanders of combat units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, united in the “Christian Corps,” have submitted their proposals and developments to the Verkhovna Rada deputies regarding the promptest development and adoption of a bill on the employment of war veterans. The working documents, prepared by the Corps’ lawyers, were sent to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the leaders of all parliamentary factions and deputy groups.
The initiative of the Christian Corps consists in providing tax benefits to those enterprises where the proportion of veterans exceeds 30% of the total number of employees.
“The main civilian task of the Christian Corps is to show that adherence to moral commandments and Christian values can solve the biggest problems on the home front – bureaucracy, injustice, and social insecurity. That is why legislative initiative, which will promote the integration of war veterans into peaceful life, has become one of the priorities for the Corps. We are convinced that love for one’s neighbor is not only words in prayer but concrete decisions that will change the life of every person. Therefore, we did not wait for someone else to deal with this – we prepared a concrete document and today we are handing it over to those who have the right to adopt laws,” said Oleksiy Seredyuk, commander of the “Bratsvo” battalion.
This initiative was first presented at the presentation of the Christian Corps in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where it received the approval of military personnel, chaplains, and representatives of public organizations. After that, the Corps brought the initiative to open discussion, inviting everyone interested to a public debate. The next step was sending letters with working documents to the leadership and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
“We have already said many fine words about respect for veterans. But calls do not create jobs, do not pay for retraining, and do not compensate employers for any expenses. When an entrepreneur decides who to hire, he counts money – and this is normal, it is his business and his risk. Therefore, the tool that can really change something must also be financial. Our proposal is exactly this: enterprises where war veterans make up at least 30 percent of employees receive tax benefits. The state does not give anything away – it simply makes the most difficult, first stage of employment cheaper, which benefits all parties,” emphasized Dmytro Linko, commander of the “Stuhna” special unit.
The Christian Corps is an association of combat units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which have proclaimed Christian values as the basis of their activities and worldview. The main values for the Corps’ military personnel are love for God, love for one’s neighbor, brotherhood, service, and honor. The mission of the Christian Corps is: defense of the state, defense of the family, defense of the personal cause of every citizen.
The Corps includes the “Bratsvo” battalion (commander Oleksiy Seredyuk), the “Stuhna” special unit (commander Dmytro Linko), the “Revansh” Tactical Group (commander of the “Dolya” unit), the “Tradition and Order” unit (commander of the Christian Udara unit), the “Jesus Christ Company” active operations unit (commander of the “Braviy” unit), “Bratsvo of Drones,” the “Belarusian Volunteers” unit (commander of the “Yanki” unit), the 6th Special Purpose Detachment as part of the “Timur Special Unit,” and other combat units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The main civilian partner of the Corps is the Charitable Foundation for Youth Initiatives “Hope.”
