President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the primary objective for the new government, led by Serhiy Koretsky, will be to prepare the country for the upcoming winter and ensure preparedness for any eventuality during the war.
The head of state made these remarks during his evening address.
According to him, Koretsky’s experience in managing state energy companies will be a significant asset for the Cabinet of Ministers.
The President recalled that after Koretsky took over “Ukrnafta,” the company began operating more efficiently, free from oligarchic control. “Naftogaz,” which he led, managed to navigate a challenging heating season despite massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
“His strength lies in working specifically within state energy companies. He came to ‘Ukrnafta,’ reformed the company’s processes after oligarchic control. Thanks to Serhiy, ‘Ukrnafta’ started truly working for our state. ‘Naftogaz’ went through a difficult winter; despite all Russian strikes, Ukraine had gas,” he said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine continues to enhance its long-range capabilities to complicate Russia’s warfare and disrupt its offensive plans.
However, he added, even with such developments, the country must be ready for any scenario.
“Under any scenario, Ukraine must be fully prepared to protect life, defend its people, and ensure a smooth winter passage. This is our primary, shared Ukrainian task for the new government,” he stressed.
The President also announced changes in interaction with international partners. He stated that the new government must ensure the faster implementation of agreements already reached with allies.
It is recalled that on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to appoint a new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers. Deputies cast 264 votes for this decision.
Serhiy Koretsky, the former head of “Naftogaz,” became the new Prime Minister of Ukraine. Experts describe him as a strong performer and leader.
