So-called “Budanov’s detachments” carried out a sabotage operation on the railway in Russia’s Orenburg region, during which tank cars with gas and gasoline were destroyed.
This is reported by the publication “Novyny LIVE” with reference to its own sources.
According to the publication, on the night of August 15, a tank car with gas, which was directly on the railway tracks, was destroyed by a remote explosion in Orsk.
That same night, in the city of Gai, Orenburg region, according to the source, a tank car with gasoline was set on fire in a similar manner.
The publication “Novyny LIVE” stated that it received a video from the source confirming the sabotage operations on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Information about the detonation of tank cars in the Orenburg region currently comes only from the sources of the publication “Novyny LIVE” and lacks independent confirmation. Russian authorities have not reported any railway fires.
Activity of “Budanov’s detachments” — what is known
Information about the activities of underground groups in Russia became known after the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation in 2022. The then head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that one of the key areas of the intelligence service’s work was the organization of partisan detachments that were to operate in Russia’s rear.
Recently, Russian facilities and military personnel have repeatedly become targets of operations linked to the so-called “Budanov’s detachments.” In particular, it was reported about the liquidation in Samara of military engineer Andriy Tisarev, who worked at an enterprise producing engines for Russia’s strategic aviation.
It was also reported about the liquidation of three pilots of the Russian unit “Rubikon,” which uses drones to strike Ukrainian targets.
