Reuters: Перед проміжними виборами Трамп не досяг значних успіхів у вирішальних конфліктах.

The loud pronouncements of the head of the White House are increasingly clashing with the reality of protracted conflicts and growing American discontent.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s agenda appears to have reached a stalemate ahead of the midterm elections in November.

This is reported by Reuters.

This situation has become particularly noticeable given that upon returning to the White House, Trump promised to be a “peacemaker president” and identified the resolution of international conflicts as one of the main tasks of his second presidential term.

“Trump is becoming increasingly impatient with journalists’ questions and even the actions of US allies. This week, he sharply criticized media representatives who insisted on answers regarding his foreign policy, and also threatened again to bomb Oman, which is an ally of the US and is negotiating with Iran to restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” the journalists note.

Due to the continued rise in prices and gasoline costs amid the war with Iran, Trump’s approval rating among Americans has dropped to a new low. According to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, only 33% of US citizens approve of his work, while other presidential attempts to promote peace have also been unsuccessful.

Midterm Elections Intensify Political Pressure

Less and less time remains until the US elections. Trump’s Republican Party risks losing control of one or both houses of Congress, which will significantly limit the president’s ability to advance his agenda in the last two years of his term.

Experts believe that coercive pressure can force rivals to the negotiating table, but it does not always lead to long-term agreements. This may encourage Washington’s opponents to simply wait out the political cycle in the US.

Recall that the midterm elections to the US Congress are scheduled for November 2026. Americans will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives, as well as approximately one-third of the Senate. The election results will determine which party will control the legislative body in the second half of Trump’s presidential term.
