President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that the reformed government will place significant emphasis on youth policy within its action plan. Among the upcoming changes are increased scholarships, more accessible “Ye-oselya” housing, and greater youth participation in community governance. The Head of State announced this during the Ukrainian Youth Forum, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent. “Currently, our country’s reformed government is preparing the action program of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. I expect that attention to civilian aspects of life, particularly youth policy, will be sufficiently represented in the government’s program to ensure that you, young people like yourselves, your parents, and Ukrainians in general, gain more economic and social opportunities, and more chances to realize your potential,” stated Zelenskyy. He recalled that today Ukraine and the world celebrate Youth Day. “And our main wish today is that on this significant day, we can always say year after year that this is a day for millions of our people, millions of Ukrainian families, millions of children who will be born, grow up, and build their own lives in Ukraine, and crucially – in a peaceful Ukraine,” emphasized the President. He noted that alongside addressing security concerns, the government must also improve the socio-economic conditions for young people. Among specific measures, he highlighted the increase in the minimum academic scholarship to UAH 4,000 from September 1st, the enhanced scholarship exceeding UAH 5,000, and over UAH 7,000 for specialized fields. Importantly, the Head of State stressed that dormitory fees will not increase. Zelenskyy also urged the government to re-evaluate the terms of the affordable housing program “Ye-oselya.” “We need to expand the ‘Ye-oselya’ program so that more young Ukrainians and young families can live in their own apartments or houses. Steps have already been taken to reduce the down payment, but the program’s scope remains insufficient. This must be rectified. The Government of Ukraine should present relevant proposals and decisions,” the Head of State remarked.
